The night was kicked off by indie-pop band Silent Alliance, who were easily the best act of the night. Their set, characterised by the spasmodic dancing of singer Phillip Ybring, and catchy melodic tunes, was compelling to watch, and even had the most nonchalant of attendee's tapping their feet. Silent Alliance slipped easily from jumpy indie ditties such as Cities on Fire and the Edge of Town, to slow ballads, and even a cover of Avril Lavigne's Skater Boi, a feat which few bands are able to pull off with out burning out, but that Silent Alliance choreographed perfectly. Why they weren't higher on the bill is a mystery.
